You Lift Me Up

You will not regret listening to this song. My very lovely buddy Jiamin introduced it to me just last week and I cannot stop myself from being hooked onto it. I can foresee it's timeless value.

Sunday Part 2 - Dinner

My family is a sucker for exploring new ways to eat. So my mum chanced upon and purchased a new kind of griller which we tried for dinner yesterday. The pictures shall do the rest of the talking. (Last photo: We were so proud of Wanda when he just lied on the floor without disturbing us!)

Sunday & Dr. Kim Sung Hae

It's amazing to know the little things God do in our lives. He never overlooks anything. I had only 5 hours of sleep yesterday (I'm the kind who needs the 7-8 hours) but I survived the day and on top of that I wasn't even feeling tired at all. (:

I was honored to be able to listen to Dr. Kim Sung Hae preach in church today. She's really an anointed woman of God! She usually delivers simple; non-abstract messages but when you hear them they touch your soul and you can always learn something new. The topic today was on using your talents and a few of the interesting bits were:

1) If you tell yourself you can do it (and you feel that way), you can accomplish 500% of what you intended to do. In contrast, if you think you can't, you can only accomplish less than 30% of your ability to do it. (The Psychology of Power)

2) Invest in your strengths and you can accomplish many great things!

A funny thing that happened during fellowship today also: I was ordering Ba Chor Mee (?) and I wanted more lard (I know... sorry) but I didn't know how to say it such that the guy would understand. So in the end I said "you (oil)" and he literally put in more oil into the bowl...Anyway the food was so dry and unappetizing. ):

I hope you have a wonderful Sabbath Sunday! A new week of joys and inspirations will be coming our way. (:

Mad Jack

Advice of the day from trusty Gladys: NEVER EVER EAT AT MAD JACK.

After Econs (relieved), Rachel, Nina, Minqi, Tong, Izzy, Robs & I headed to Nex and we were having a very tough time making a decision on where to eat. Eons after, we decided on Mad Jack since it was halal and the student meals seemed relatively cheap. To my horror of horrors, the portion of the food is so small, you can practically finish their plate of pasta in two mouthfuls. True enough, the people who ordered that pasta finished their food in 4 minutes. My heart burns strongly with indignation. Although the portion of what I ordered was slightly more reasonable, the rice in it was too bland and tasted really disgusting.

I may seem too harsh to Mad Jack but the truth is that... the portion you get is not worth of the money you spent.

Haha let's just move on to a lighter topic. I'm glad that Econs is over! That just leaves Lit and Math. I guess we really had the privilege of the four days study break and the two days holiday from the Hougang election. (:

Also... my insomnia has came back. I didn't sleep for the past 2 days also partially due to the thunderstorms that had been coming very randomly in the middle of the nights. Surprisingly I don't feel tired as of now... thank God.

That is about all for the first half of the day. For the rest of the time I shall sleep the day away or probably have a show marathon.

On a side note, I'm stoked for my very first outing with my closest classmates in class right after the end of mid years. Wooooooooooooh!

Back... With Thanksgiving

I think I'm making a conscious decision to go back to blogging. I stopped initially because it seemed like a burden for me to always talk about interesting things when life just now mostly revolves around JC... but eventually the beauty of blogging also comes in when mundane, day-to-day things are talked and thought about, I guess. Also I'm currently really enjoying this school a lot and I would want to be able to look back at what I did and laugh or smile about it in the future. :')

It may seem insane to most people to say I'm enjoying the JC life a lot... but it's in the sense that I really like what I'm doing. I love the subjects (H2 Lit, Econs, History & H1 Math) and the teachers and the friends. I feel beyond blessed to be in this school with such a nurturing environment. You know the dreadful feeling you get sometimes when you face a certain subject during an exam? I don't really get the feeling anymore. I used to do with Math, but stats now is fun and my class has a really really cute teacher, Mr Seah. I know my thoughts and points are really messed up but I'm on a roll with them.

The friends are also amazing. My class is far from perfect and far from being perfectly bonded. However I'm so grateful for the people I'm close to there and also for the people I'm not exactly... close to. It is a very different feeling being in this class because all my life in SMPS/SMSS I come from strongly bonded classes and now it's simply different. It also goes to show that God doesn't always put me in perfect places but I'm feeling blessed enough for this class.

The teachers also play a significant role in building this happy environment. They are just so sacrificial in their time and effort. It's heartening to see teachers wanting to reach out to students to a deeper level, rather than just establishing formal recognition of a student-teacher relationship.

I take back what I said about knowing I'll hate this school (during my desperation of wanting to get into SAJC) because I know I'm supposed to be here.

So this is just a rough overview of how I like it in this new school and everyone in it.

Be back for more, cause I think I'm gonna be blogging more regularly with a new surge of topics and inspirations.

Sundays with Ivie

(THIS POST IS FOR IVIE ROSABEL TAY! Surprise!)

She is one of my greatest friends in life.
Now that she's a Saint and I'm an SRJC-ian, I treasure each time I see her in church, hence we must take a photo each Sunday, ha ha.

(When she came to my school to watch her touch ruggers play with my school's)
According to her I was over excited, how not to?!

Just wanna say that you've been such a dear friend these past 7 years and counting!
Love you! :)
